Conditional questions are questions of any type that can be revealed under certain conditions - like another question's answer, or a particular school that's been selected by the family in their rankings.
This lets you build forms that can be shorter in length, and ask for additional information only when necessary. For example:
How do I set a question to be shown conditionally?
1. Create or choose the question you want shown conditionally. Edit its configurations and enable "Conditional reveal". This will let you search for the revealing item on a new field.
2. If you'd like this question to be revealed on another question's answer, look for that question and select it. Note only single select and multi select questions can reveal another question, so questions that require you to pick one or multiple values (including Grade). If you'd like this question to be revealed when a specific school or schools are selected, look for "School selection".
🚨 Some notes on how to structure conditional questions:
- The revealing question must be asked before the question that will be revealed. So place your conditional question after the question that reveals it.
- Any conditional question specific to a particular school has to be asked in a section placed after the Ranking section.
- Any conditional question specific to a particular grade has to be asked in a section placed after the Pre-ranking section where the grade question is.
3. After you've indicated a revealing question, you'll be able to select which answers should reveal the question you're conditionally revealing. If you're revealing the question based on a school, you'll be able to select which schools reveal the question you're conditionally revealing.
| 💡 School specific questions are portable across environments as long as you're using Reference IDs on the schools. If the schools don't have a Reference ID, then they fallback to the environment specific UUID, making them no longer portable. |
4. If you'd like to change the revealing condition, click on the "X" icon to start over.
5. If you'd like the question to be revealed normally, without any conditions, turn off the "Conditional reveal" toggle.
6. Advanced setup. You can reveal questions based on a combination of answers, or when one or another answer is true, by clicking "Add question". This will let you specify an AND or an OR operator for the question to be revealed. These operators can't be mixed with one another in the same condition - if combining more than one question to reveal another, the same operator will be used for all.
For example, for the following setup, the revealed question will be shown when the student answers "Yes" to the question "Does the student have any allergies" or if the student answers with "Peanuts", or "Gluten" to the question "Is the student intolerant to any foods"
Example 1: Basic conditional question revealed
Example 2: Adding a School Specific Question
