Clear lower ranked waitlists and offers

Use the Clear lower ranked waitlists and offers rule to automatically update a student’s lower ranked waitlists and offers when an offer is accepted so those seats can open up to other students.

Set up the rule

This rule only works on forms with ordered school ranking, since it relies on knowing which schools a family ranked lower.

1. Open the form template and go to the Rules tab.
2. Add a new rule and select Clear lower ranked waitlists and offers.
3. Choose what the rule should do. You can turn on one or both options:
   • Clear lower ranked waitlists. 
     • This will set the sub-status for lower-ranked waitlisted schools to Withdrawn (for family-initiated accepts) or Removed (for staff-initiated accepts). 
   • Clear lower ranked offers. 
     • This will set the sub-status for lower-ranked offered schools to Declined (for family-initiated accepts) or Revoked (for staff-initiated accepts). 
4. Save the rule. Then toggle it active.

The rule runs whenever an offer is accepted, whether a family accepts it or staff accept it for them, including through bulk actions. Only schools ranked below the accepted school are updated. Schools ranked higher stay as they are.
