To provide your families with a seamless experience between exploring schools and applying schools, Avela offers the ability for saved schools in Explore to automatically be added to the Apply list. This makes it easier for families and is built with the appropriate eligibility checks in place.
Family Experience
Parents can save schools in Explore and then click the Apply now button to continue to Apply.
If parents are already logged in to Apply they will be able to continue with the application process. If they are not logged in to Apply, the schools will be saved and they will need to sign up or log in first.
The saved schools will be added to the first form that contains a school selection section. This means that the school selection list for a second student's form will not automatically include these saved schools. Families applying for multiple students can either return to Explore and repeat the process or manually add the schools for their second student.
Your application likely has stricter eligibility rules than Explore. Consequently, some schools may be removed in the application. Avela prioritizes the eligibility rules in Apply to determine which schools can be ranked, while Explore serves as a tool for discovering potential options.
How to setup Explore and Apply to integrate
If you're interested in implementing this integration, please contact your account representative. To proceed with the setup, you’ll need to do the following:
- Configure School IDs: School IDs will need to match in Explore and Apply. You will need to update your Explore config and Apply school IDs. Please note the best experience will be to have a one to one match of schools in Explore to Apply. IDs can be alphanumeric and need to be distinct. If you are using School IDs for other integrations, please note that they will need to stay consistent.
- For schools that may be in your Explore instance that do not have a school to Apply to, you can leave the School IDs in Apply empty.
- Configuration deployment: We will deploy your instance into a test environment so you can review the setup before deploying to your production instance.
