Very often, we want something to automatically happen when a specific event takes place - for example, be able to start a registration form when I accept an offer from one of my school choices.
What's a form rule?
Form rules are Avela's way of helping you automate behavior and offload some of the more time consuming tasks into efficient workflows that run on their own - given rules that you set.
Rules are configured per form - so you can have different ones doing different jobs within the same form, or across multiple forms.
How do I set up a rule?
1.Go to the form you'd like to work with
2. Click on Rules
3. To add a new one, click "Add rule"
4. Indicate what you'd like to do with your rule, this will let you specify when the rule should run
5. Indicate when the rule should take effect - depending on what you'd like to do, this may be more or less sub-statuses, and specific conditions. See some examples below.
6. When you're ready, save the rule
7. Once a rule has been saved, you'll be able to easily edit it (or delete it) from the Rules list
What can I do with rules?
Right now, there are a few different things you can do with it:
Connect forms:
- Useful to collect an initial set of data, like an Intent form first, and then move on to Apply
- When an offer is accepted, useful to connect to Registration if you're an Enroll customer
Tag:
- Useful to tag siblings and impact waitlist priorities, or just to categorize them
- Based on questions to impact waitlist priorities, or just to categorize them (Coming soon)
- Based on boundaries, categorize form responses (Coming soon)
