When you look at the Messages page in Avela, each row shows details about messages that were sent. A message can be sent to one person or many people. The status you see tells you what happened to the message for all the people it was sent to. Here are the statuses:
- Sent: The message was sent successfully to everyone.
- Not sent: The message did not get sent to anyone.
- Pending: The message is still being sent.
- Partially sent: The message was sent to at least one person, but not everyone. Some people might not have received it yet (not sent) or it might still be on the way (pending).
When you look at the details of a message, you can see the status for each person it was sent to. These statuses are the same as the ones for messages themselves, but in this case they let you know what happened per person. The statuses are:
- Sent: The message was sent successfully to the person.
- Not sent: The message did not get sent to the person.
- Pending: The message is still being sent to the person.
Why did my message fail to send?
There are many reasons why messages might not be sent to someone. Here are some common ones:
- Invalid email or phone: The email or phone number doesn’t exist or isn’t active, even if it looks correct.
- Opt-outs or suppression lists: The person has unsubscribed, reported spam, or their email is on a list to block messages (like for bounces or blocks). Recipients who have opted out by accident or would like to resume notifications can opt back in by texting START.
- Mailbox full: The person’s inbox is full, so they can’t get new emails.
- Rate limiting: Sending too many messages too fast can cause delays, especially if you’re messaging a lot of people at once.
- Spam filters: The message looks like spam to email filters because of certain words, too many links, or suspicious content.
When writing messages, focus on sending helpful and meaningful information. Avoid sending too many messages or anything that might seem like spam. This helps you follow Carrier rules, and it builds trust with your audience.
