Use this option when you’re sending the same message to many recipients at once, and want each family to receive it in their preferred language.
Avela can also help you automatically translate your message into multiple languages based on recipient preferences—while still letting you review and edit each translation before sending - with the use of Avela Intelligence.
When to use this
You’re messaging many families at once
Recipients have different preferred languages
You want to avoid creating and managing separate messages per language
Step 1: Create your message in English (original)
Select Send message after selecting your recipients
Enter:
Subject line
Email content
SMS content
This English version is the original message and is required before translating.
💡 Tip: Variables (such as
{{parent.name}}) work across all languages and will populate correctly for each recipient.
Step 2: Translate to multiple languages
Click Translate to multiple languages
If your organization uses it, Avela Intelligence will start translating your message
A loading state appears while translations are generated
Behind the scenes, Avela Intelligence:
Analyzes the source content and intent
Translates both email and SMS content (depending on what's present)
Creates one version per detected language
Step 3: Review translations by language
Once translation is complete:
Each language appears as a tab (for example, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese)
The number next to each language shows how many recipients will receive that version
For each language, you can:
Edit the subject line
Edit the email content
Edit the SMS content
⚠️ Important: Always review translations before sending, especially for time-sensitive or compliance-related messages.
Step 4: Confirm translations
After reviewing:
Click Confirm translations
Each language version is saved
A confirmation message indicates how many language translations were applied - the number will correspond to the number of languages.
You can still switch between language tabs and make edits before sending, if needed.
Step 5: Send the message
When you send the bulk message:
Each family receives the message in their preferred language, if a translation exists
Families without a matching translation receive the original English message
Things to know
Translations are created per language, grouping recipients by their preference
Translations work for both SMS and Email
Variables remain dynamic and populate correctly in all languages
Attachments are shared across all language versions, but inline images are specific to the translation tab you're working with - useful if you're sending communications with images containing translated text
You can return to edit the English or translated versions before sending

Write clear, simple English before translating
Avoid idioms or highly localized phrases
Review at least one translated version for accuracy
Keep SMS messages concise to avoid segment overages
