Configuring the login and sign up screens

The login and sign up pages for every organization on Avela can have their experience controlled via URL parameters. This allows preparing of links for specific use-cases where you may want to direct a parent to a certain sign up method or high specific parts of the page to prevent certain actions.

Direct parent to login with email or SMS

You can direct the parents to a specific type of login method using the URLs below.

To login with SMS, use the following URL:

https://apply.avela.org/{org}?page=login&method=phone&hide=switch-page

To login with email, use the following URL:

https://apply.avela.org/{org}?page=login&method=email&hide=switch-page

Both page and method need to be in the URL for this to work.

The {org} part of the URL should be replaced with whatever organization you're directing them to. For the Avela demo organization, you'd use `demo`, for example:

 https://apply.avela.org/demo?page=login&method=phone&hide=switch-page

Hiding the alternate login method

Sometimes, you want to hide some parts of the login or sign up pages to prevent parents from taking certain actions. For example, in account lookup, we direct parents to the right login method and prevent showing the sign up link because we know they have an account and want them to login.

Currently, you can choose to hide the ability to switch between login and signup pages, and the ability to switch between login methods (SMS and email). You can also combine those to hide both.

To hide the ability to switch between login and signup pages, use the following URL:

https://apply.avela.org/{org}?hide=switch-page

To hide the ability to switch between login methods, use the following URL:

https://apply.avela.org/{org}?hide=switch-method

To do both, use the following URL:

https://apply.avela.org/{org}?hide=switch-page,switch-method

The {org} part of the URL should be replaced with whatever organization you're directing them to.

Combining both

You can combine both of the configuration options above to direct parents to a specific page and show and hide specific elements in it.

For example, if you wanted to direct someone to the SMS sign up page of the demo org. and hide both the ability to switch to email and login, you'd use the following URL:
