When a match run is complete, the lottery assigns each student a ranked position based on the results. Saving the lottery position makes that ranking official — it pushes each student's position to Apply and can be used in determining waitlist order.
Save the lottery position
1. In the left navigation, go to Match.
2. Click the name of the match run you want to save.
3. On the Match Details page, click Save lottery position in the top right.
4. Review the confirmation message — it confirms that all lottery positions will immediately become visible to staff and that waitlist sorting will be saved.
5. Click Save position to confirm.
- Note: While you can always save a new lottery position from a subsequent run, we highly advise you know what your final lottery is before publishing the lottery position. Lottery positions are overridden when you save a new run. If lottery positions are saved between runs, dropping a student from a subsequent run will not clear their previously saved position.
After you save
Once you save, a few things update across the product:
- On the Match Details page, the Save lottery position button becomes inactive. You'll see a note showing when the position was last saved and who saved it.
- On the Match list view, two new columns appear for each run: Position last saved on and Position last saved by. These give you a clear audit trail without having to open each run individually.
- In Apply and Waitlists, a new Lottery position, column is now available. You can add it to any view and include it in exports. This column reflects the saved ranking from the match run.
Note: The column previously labeled "Position" has been renamed to Waitlist position to distinguish it from lottery position. If you had this column in a saved view, it will still be there — just under the new name. |
