On the final screen of a Custom Export, you can specify an additional means of delivery, like exporting directly to an existing Google Spreadsheet you're working on. This is useful if you'd like to directly pull data into a file you're already working on, without the hassle of exporting and importing a CSV.
Depending on the size of your export, not all of it may fit in a spreadsheet - Google Sheets has a limit of 10,000 rows. We recommend a different delivery system if you'd like to export more than 10,000 form responses.
| This feature is available to anyone with a Google Drive account |
- To export to an existing Google Spreadsheet, you'll have to first share it with our our service account, exports@avela.org. When asked to specify permissions for it, select "Editor"
2. In Avela, when customizing your export delivery, select "Existing Google Sheets spreadsheet" as a delivery method.
3. Share the Spreadsheet ID or URL. Easiest way to do this is to copy the URL from the browser and paste it directly under "Spreadsheet URL or ID" field.
If, for any given reason, you wanted to use the ID: The spreadsheet ID is a particular string containing letters, numbers, and some special characters that reference a spreadsheet and it can be found in the URL itself (directly after /d/ and before /edit or #gid=).
3. If your file has multiple Sheets (tabs), you can optionally specify a specific Sheet name to export to.
| ⚠️ Any preexisting data within a Sheet will be replaced by the export's dataset. |
