Status descriptions help clarify each step of your workflow, making it easier for families to understand the process.
You can set default descriptions for the entire organization to use, and modify them ad-hoc (individually or in bulk) at any given stage of the process, as an additional means of communicating with the family.
You can control who within the organization has permission to do this, with the use of Teams.
Status descriptions are displayed to the family below their form status, under “Next steps”.

Modifying status descriptions ad-hoc
When working with Form responses, you may want to update the status description of particular individuals or sets of people who meet a given criteria.
- To modify this per individual, navigate to the response you’d like to work with.
- Below the title, click on “Set status description”
- To modify this in bulk, select the people you’d like to modify this for from the list, by using the checkbox controls
- On the toolbar that displays at the top, click “Set status description”
- Both per individual and in bulk, once you’re ready, click “Update”. Modifying this one status description overrides the default copy you established on the Form itself, just for the individuals you selected.
- Tip: If you’d like to reach out to the family to let them know of any next steps they may need to take, you can save time by ticking the “Send message” checkbox prior to clicking “Update”. This will pre-populate the compose window and allow you to make any final tweaks to your message before you send it.
